Alexis
Hall is a truly amazing writer and though I’ve only read, “Waiting for the
Flood” and “For Real,” I don’t need to read his entire collection to recognize
brilliance in a turn of a phrase.
There
are just so many combinations of words in the English language. The feelings
that these combinations are infinite often get negated by the reality of how
truly finite words strung together can actually be. In my own endless
repetition (as vicious a cycle as ever there was) I find a breath of air in the
words of Alexis Hall. 
With no doubt whatsoever I believe that “a
collection of very
dashing hats,” is the least among the offerings Mr.
Hall has to share with the world. I feel privileged to have discovered this
author and have read his words.
