Tie Me Up Tie Me Down (Tied Up by the Boss)

Tied Up by the Boss (Office Kink #2)

I don’t gamble or play the lottery. I can’t bring myself to attach hopes and dreams to ephemera. I want the tangible reality of something real, even if it’s fiction. That said, when Hunter Frost offered an advance reader’s copy of Tied Up by the Boss, I thought, yea. So getting the book (ebook – ephemeral, untouchable, intangible) I was weirdly excited. It was more like catching the ring on the carousal than an Ed McMahon moment (too young for this Easter egg, and yes I said, Easter egg,  – Google that Sugar Honey Ice Tea). But seriously, I was in the middle of a trilogy when the email came, short-term memory being an issue I needed to finish what I’d started (no matter how boring it was). So, here we go with my review – better late than never.

I try to start a book with no expectations, but Hunter Frost wrote A Thoreou Affair, so there you go and here I am – filled with expectations. And what I got was, Morgan and Parker and I kind of did like them. They start with an adversarial relationship that morphs into a sort of relationship based on attraction, sex and kink. There’s a May/December vibe, though actual ages aren’t given for these characters. I liked the slow build and the connection they formed. I was there with them almost to the very end. And then the end came, something happened when the story was wrapping up that I found disconcerting. Maybe it was the abruptness of the ending that sent me from four stars to three. It wasn’t quite the Sopranos, but close enough.
