Let's Call This River Styx (The River Leith)

The River Leith

Leta Blake

I’m a big time sucker for romance and it wasn’t this. As a rule, I hate stories with infidelity. To the unfaithful, there’s always a perfectly plausible excuse. In this case it was a need for solace and comfort and so much BS it left a stench—for now we’ll call the malodorous excrement Zack.

Leith suffers a traumatic brain injury and Zach decides a one-night stand in the same bed he shared with the man he supposedly loved, is just what he needs to take his mind off of his cares and woes. His subsequent paragraph lamenting his actions and feelings of guilt reinforced the aforementioned stench. Zack took a bad situation and made it worse. It was Zack that decided Leith shouldn’t know about their life together while in the hospital. It was Zack vlogging to the world at large; because they deserved his attention more than the person he claimed to love. It was Zach that practically made begging a requisite to visit Leith in the hospital. It was Zack keeping secrets and lying.

This character did nothing to earn his HEA, unless whining merits rewards. It’s a good thing they weren’t married because when it came to “sickness and health,” Zack only got half of that right. Leith deserved so much better than Zack.
