Happy Trails

There’s
something a little disconcerting about Ms. Lynne’s stories that come in series,
which seem to go on and on. I was really relived to read a story by Ms. Lynne
that didn’t play six degrees of Kevin Bacon.
Her
overlapping characters create a universe and who doesn’t love a universe.
Still, sometimes it’s really nice to have the microcosm of a moment as in the
case of “Happy Trails” and not the whole shebang. I’m not particularly fond of
the notion that this story leaves us on the precipice of some big drama or not.
But whether Ms. Lynne chooses to continue to continue here, or just leave it as
is—I’m good.
