There is sometimes a beautiful combination of written words and
direction and performance that cannot be replicated or ignored.
Jason Dohring is the breath of Logan Echolls and he lives.
The part where the actor is so far removed from heartthrob is
reminiscence of Bogie and that’s a good thing. They had already
cast the heartthrob role anyway, but Dohring’s role was better. He
was such a surprise, the villain’s metamorphic arc into something
else. It wasn’t this thing that is often associated with my gender.
You know what I mean, the attraction to the bad boy. It was just
that when Logon was bad, he was repugnant (kudos again to Jason
Dohring). When he was vulnerable, he was heartbreaking.
I’m not a young woman and hopefully far from “cougar,” but I have to say there are moments that resonate with me simply because I live and breathe. I wrote my Logan Echolls story because I wanted LoVe to be more than just a Momentary Thing.
