Pawing At the Surface (Twisted Together)

Twisted Together

Sentiments from 2018:
I had to skim this story before linking it to my blog, because seriously I read this story three and a half years and hundreds and hundreds of stories ago. The two lines that once upon a time constituted a review, gave only a slight hint on my sentiments at the time. I had a vague recollection of a dinner party, but not much else.
But even with a cursory look, what stuck me right off the bat was that Kris was such an a-hole. There was a hint that the character was more below the surface, but the story was over before that could be explored.
I’m kind of on the fence about this novelette, but I might have liked it more three and a half years ago than I do today. It probably has more to do with the hundreds and hundreds of stories in between. What can I say? It raises the bar.
Sentiments from 2015:
These characters were far from complete; the precipice of a revelation was there. Sometimes the hint of something is all it takes. And this book certainly had that.
