Sometimes
I think – one more dystopian book and
I’ll scream – J.M. Snyder’s Persistence
of Memory, is not that book. It never once made me want to scream, but it
did make me want to cry. Joah and
Tobin didn’t fall in love once, but twice. Perhaps it was muscle memory that
leads Joah to Tobin after they had taken every memory except his name. Perhaps
this is the triumph of the human spirit and if there is a soul this is how they
are mated and call to each other.
There is something simply beautiful about this
story where Joah and Tobin can be separated, but can never be kept apart.
