Elements of Retrofit

Okay, I’ll be honest; this is where I seriously want to wax poetic. But
really, why the heck not. N.R. Walker’s “Elements of Retrofit,” as the first
installment in the Thomas Elkin saga, is truly a feast for any reader, avid or
otherwise. This May/ December romance feels much more genuine than other stories that endeavor the same plot point. (Though I readily concede others have also done it well.) There’s something cinematically beautiful about its unfolding in this case.
I’ve cast and recast the film version a million times in my head. In just a few short years Matt Bomer could easily be Cooper’s Tom - and wouldn’t that be something. In the interim I’ve only read the book ten or fifteen times, I can read it again.
