Sloan
Parker’s “A Lesson in Truth,” is one of the best examples of self-contained
short stories. Some short stories often miss the mark and either needed to be
longer or needed to end sooner. This story hits the mark perfectly. It gives
just enough background to flesh out the characters and remains in the moment.
Mind
you, I would never object to Ms. Parker revisiting these characters, but the
truth is she doesn't have to.
